Manchester City won the Premier League after Arsenal lost and Forest earned a spot in the top division.

After championship contender Arsenal fell against Nottingham Forest, Manchester City won the Premier League for the third straight year.

After being defeated 1-0 on Saturday, the Gunners, who had been in first place for the bulk of the season, are now four points behind City with just one game remaining.

In five of the last six seasons, Pep Guardiola's team has won the championship.

Due to the upcoming FA Cup and Champions League finals, they also have a chance to win the Triple Crown.

Only Manchester United, in 1998-1999, has previously accomplished that feat. City will face their derby rivals at Wembley on June 3 before taking on Inter Milan in Istanbul a week later, when they will attempt to win their first Champions League competition.

Following their match against Chelsea on Sunday (16:00 BST), City will raise the trophy.

The Premier League is without a doubt the most rigorous and difficult league in the world, so that tells you everything about what an achievement this is, according to captain Ilkay Gundogan, who has scored four goals in the last two league games.

"It's amazing to have won this award five times in six years and three times in a row. The club will continue to strive for success in the future because of that quality and consistency, which help define what Manchester City stands for.

"I'll never forget this season," captain Ilkay Gundogan said."

Despite having one fewer game under their belt than Mikel Arteta's leaders at the time, City, who won the title for the eighth time in club history, had fallen eight points behind Arsenal on April 7.

Only four times in the history of the Premier League has a team finished with at least 28 games remaining and still failed to win the championship.

Only one team has ever had 69 points with 10 games left and failed to win the championship. That squad was Arsenal. In the 2018–19 season, Liverpool finished with 97 points, one point behind Manchester City.

But with three games left, City has won 11 straight league games, dropping just two points from a potential 42 to pass Arsenal and clinch the title.

After Huddersfield Town (1924–26), Arsenal (1933–35), Liverpool (1982–84), and Manchester United, which accomplished this feat again under Sir Alex Ferguson (1999–2001 and 2007–09), City is the only English club to have won three consecutive top-flight championships.

It is also the third time in his career that Guardiola has done so, having previously done so with Bayern Munich from 2014 to 2016 and with Barcelona in the Bundesliga from 2009 to 2011.

Manchester United won the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League Triple Crown from 1996 to 2001, the last time a team dominated the league with five titles in six seasons.

City's present dominance is not unheard of; United also won seven titles in nine seasons between 1993 and 2001, as well as five titles in seven seasons between 2007 and 2013.

Prior to that, Liverpool experienced comparable league success in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
